Hi all I am about to take the plunge and buy a road bike or as i used to call them a racer. I have looked at a couple of entry level bikes namely the carerra tdf and the btwin triban 3 now i know there might be a bit of bike snobbery but as a beginner I need help I don't want to spend lots of cash in case i don't take to road cycling any advice of what might be best or maybe an alternative would be gratefully received.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Triban 3
carbon forks compared to alloy forks so they are lighter and absorb road buzz better
triple chainring rather than a double so you have more gear choices
cheaper
Received a review in cycling active that said it rode like a bike 2-3 times the price.

The down side..
Some people have noted that the wheels are definitely budget and have been prone to wear quickly but ribble are doing r501`s with bladed spokes for £70 ..

I was looking at the Triban 3 and then I looked at the Giant defy 5 for a bit more money but a better bike. But then done some searching on Ebay and picked up a near on brand new Wilier montegrappa sora for a price between these 2 other bikes. so i would say have a serious look at second hand, because you can get a lot more bike for your money, although it will be slightly older.

my suggestion is as always buy 2nd hand and make sure you enjoy road bikes first then by all means treat yourself to a new bike
