Hi,
I have spent a good few months contemplating a bike to buy, and am completely befuddled!
I currently have a (passed on, second hand) Apollo MTB, which isn't great. I basically want to cycle to and from work every day, which is 6 miles - mostly road, and has some steep steep inclines. On more than occasion I have been overtaken by someone on a much better bike whilst I seem to be struggling to get my bike up the hills!
I consider myself pretty fit, if getting on (41) - so I'm sure a good bike will really help. Initially I didn't want to spend more than £150, but the more I searched the more i realised this is a false economy. So I have been looking at forums and speaking to a guy I work with, but I would appreciate some advice.
Lots of people mention the Triban - as a great option. I have had a look on ebay at several second hand bikes, but I can't be sure of the quality. I also just found this Carrera, and wondered what anyone thought. Looks like a good spec and decent price.
