I was just trying out various routes for my future commute (hand in my notice at the old job tomorrow!) Cycling out of Lincoln along Tritton Road I decided to follow the cycle path suggested - it goes off Tritton Road before getting to Newark Road to cut off a corner, and then brings you out on a relatively minor road, having to turn right across the much busier Newark Road (A1434 if anyone knows it). Anywhere, sitting there with my girlfriend next to me, waiting endlessly for a gap in both directions, I noticed a car coming up behind us, wanting to turn left. I indicated for my girlfriend to move forward and right a little so that the car could pass us - and the driver, as he passed, lowered his window and said "That was marvellously kind of you, sir". Little moments like that make you realise you can share the road quite happily. Lets see how it pans out once I'm doing it in rush hour - but I'm always optimistic ;)

Doesn't work like that in Londinium unfortunately.Manners are long gone here :-(

Ah well.....aren't all we Lincolnshire chaps known for our sweetness and bonhommie?

Oh, and welcome to the forum fellow Yellowbelly. (Don't shout about it, but we are about to declare UDI for the county of Lincolnshire and seize control of the forum from the invaders from up north).

Sorry to disappoint, but I actually live in Nottinghamshire, and I'm really a Yorkshireman in exile. I have no relatives in Lincolnshire - no, really
