Freezing fog, black ice. I came off 3 times. The 3rd time I was 5 miles from home and thought about going back. I counldn't face going back up the hill covered in sheet ice. Took it even more slowly for the next 8 miles and arrived at work sporting a bloody thigh, elbow, knee and finger  Took 1 hour 21 minutes!

And the moral of the story is .......

Hope you heal quickly, take it easy and ... leave the bike at home in icy weather, especially the dreaded back variety

There are times when taking the bike is not an option and for me black ice is one of those times. Hope the cuts and bruises heal quickly and there is no aches and pains to go with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ow ow ow!

I think it turned out colder than forecast here last night - ice all over the car this morning (which I scraped off for 10 mins before the crack of dawn so that Mrs B could get to work). No ice on the road that I could 'find', thankfully though.

Have a better journey home! ;)

Where are you - I'm in the car only because it needs rear pads, and they are a pig to do - so some other bugger can do it.

Bad luck - I hate ice. I rode 2 days last week which were dicy, but that involved walking to the main road, before getting on the bike.

Yesterday was a little icy - again walking down the hill - think it might have been the same today - looked a little slippy.

There have been loads of folk off'ed this winter with the ice - it's been cold and damp, ideal black ice conditions - be careful.

Or north - lovely and "warm" here in Edinburgh. Nice to have no ice for a change.
Yip, alll I had to deal with on the commute were motons.

I am in deepest, darkest West Oxfordshire. I guess some people call it the south.

I walked to the road this morning to check for ice/frost before setting off. None to be found until a few miles later. We have gone from a two car family to one car and SWMBO needed the car today.

A recumbant trike sounds like fun, but need the spondoolics to pay for one!

Was icy for me this morning, its funny, i amt urning into an Eskimo and having more than one type of ice, its not the fact there is ice, more the type, it was the fuzzy white frost this morning, limited slick shiny ice, no invisible black ice (but then you cant see it, so there may have been), no crunchy ice, no slushy ice so was ok.

It was 0.8 c on leaving home, really want some warmer weather now.

Dispensed with the thermals, dont need them, however cold it gets.

You have my sympathy, i also had an off this morning on the Bucks/Oxfordshire border, only riding slowly following numerous rear wheel slides. A little road rash and bruised elbow, can't complain. No end of car accidents in the area today including a jacknifed artic on the A41 near Bicester.

Yes, I read about the B4011 near Bicester was closed due to 5 accidents due to ice.
I don't know what Goo's record is all about? If it is amount of injuries then, no, I don't want to break it (or anything else for that matter).

Yes, journey home was much better. I took 30 minutes off the ride in, I must be getting super fit , got tea and sympathy when I got in. Been to A&E this evening because my hand has seized up, torn the muscle at the bottom of my thumb somehow. Tomorrow is resting at home dosed up on pain killers. The nurse was more concerned about whether I was wearing a helmet! (which I was).
