Nissan Juke: Abhor the concept, but admire the styling.

Much like the original jelly mould Sierra, I reckon the Nissan Juke will change the look of certain types of vehicle (designed and marketed at self-centred wayne kerrs). It's certainly distinctive when viewed from the front, it'll sell like hot cakes I reckon, much like it's equally sh1tty big brother the Quasqai.
'Crossovers' are shoot cars, neither fish nor fowl. I had a Peugeot 3008 in Austria recently and it bored me to sleep somewhere between Salzburg and Vienna whereapon I smashed it's door mirror against a truck to wake up.

But the Juke is brave, distinctive, bold and has a certain something and I can't but help liking, nay even admiring it.

OK, time for repentence

It is loathsome and detestable, with no redeeming features. As a car lover I'd prefer everything on the road to have the grace and presence of the Maserati which passed me today. As a realist I'll accept that not every car can be drop-dead gorgeous but they certainly don't need to be nausea inducing. I question the competence of the commitee of suits which allowed it to leave the sketchbook of a drug addled undergrad. It's shoot. I'll thank you not to mention it again.

I really cannot find the words to express how horrid everything about this car is.

It has the looks of a Tonka toy; just brash crude shapes.
The whole image of this "urban proof" driving Nissan are pushing really makes no sense to me. I cannot think of a worse car to drive in a town.
This - sitting up higher- thing. What is it all about?
Fuel consumption is really bad on these too so will cost £6,000 extra in fuel plus about £1,000 extra in road tax compared to a normal car.
You are telling the world that you have a small penis and are desperate to make up for it by having a chunky car to throw your weight around in.
Why are the lights on top of the bonnet?

Just horrid horrid horrid.

It's all about the bike.
Only need to persuade drivers of such urban cars that they can sit higher if they get on one. And get around quicker too.

+1 on the juke being horrible though.

FF just 'cos you like the looks of the Juke what makes you think it will actually be any better than the 3008 once you're on the inside? A guy I worked with bought a new Quashquai and only kept that for around 6 months as he thought it was horrible to drive.
I can't see them selling massively either. Another car to fill another gap that the marketing people have spotted. The more different models are available the smaller the gaps get. It's like trying to define a hybrid bike.

Still, if you like it, enjoy! It is different, most cars on the road now have very little difference in styling to me. CAD/wind tunnel/efficiency/wind noise/fashion/regulation seem to have watered down and restricted design flair. How many concept cars actually look anything like the concept if they make it into production?

I'll admit to being biased with my Alfa. It always looks to me like the front end was designed how they wanted it, with the grille being a big Alfa feature look. Then someone actually remembered it has to have a front number plate. 'Sod it, we like the front like that. Not changing it. just screw the plate onto the bumper over there. Jobs a good 'un.'

I've always been a bit of a car nut but I just find it hard to work up any enthusiasm for any modern day car. Car design has lost it's way, turning out cars which are often ugly, bigger and heavier than they really need to be and full of gadgets which the marketing men tell us we need.

Nissan Puke more like

^ maybe this could have been a poll. I'd have voted for butt ugly. Sorry FF.

We made the floor for the concept vehicle though.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Ok, so it looks like a frog that's been stood on, but:

Is pretty smart IMO. Maybe it's cos you can't really see the bonnet lights.

It looks (I expect deliberately) like a piece of urban weaponry. I don't like what it says about our streets and the attitudes of the people who will want to drive it.
