Brake lever broke on way home so my commute tomorrow will be just using my fixed gear only. Any tips anyone?

Although I must say the bike looks awsome without it

Yes. Ride very slowly.

just remember that brakeless is illegal in this country, then use other transport till its fixed.

I'm rather guessing that if one broken lever results in losing your brakes, then you are running a front brake only.

That being so, I'd avoid riding until it's fixed.

I run front and rear brakes on a fixopholous fixed-gear fixie and I'm glad to have them both.

It's hilly around here, so there are twisting 30+mph descents at 160+rpm. It is hard to brake elegantly with only one brake from those speeds. With no brakes, I'd be looking for the softest available grass verge.

I see brakeless fixies in London (certain parts) and I wonder what the fascination is. They are rarely ridden with verve or panache and seem as much about being seen as being ridden. Too much thought has sometimes gone into colour schemes and similar.

After some months of fixededulocitiness, you find you use the brakes very little most of the time, but I wouldn't even want to pootle to the shops without any.

Fix the brakes. Take the bus or the Maserati until you have done so. Add a rear brake. Eat more asparagas. Use only hard wood in an open fire.

I have ridden without brakes on a fixed gear bike, I found it mostly fine as even with brakes I don't touch them, I've a set of black anodised rims 2 years old and the braking surface is barely marked (it only takes one wet ride to take the braking surface anodizing off if you use your brakes) but I acknowledge it was IMO a silly thing for me to do despite being confident doing it at the time (I added brakes as an in case measure, and also for comfort as I like drop bars and brake hoods, and aesthetics, so it looks like a proper road bike). If you have to ask the question, you obviously are not confident in doing it, so don't bother! Not to mention the legal implications!

Commute was fine this morning, I slowed down for lights and junctions by back pedalling, no drama there.

Just the thought of not being able to do an emergency stop is strange
