morning CC!
i was too busy fannying about this morning and didn't make time for breakfast - i will not do this again - after about 2 miles on the bike i felt sluggish - i'm not quick either so for me to notice says it all - my legs ached and i pretty much struggles to maintain any kind of consistency
i had a good meal last night and slept like the dead so it wasn't tiredness as such, just no energy to call upon. newbie mistake i guess. having said all that it wasn't all bad...
started a short incline which drops down before a low bridge at the local railway station; an artic' caught me at the start of the rise but didn't pressure me by trying a pass, he held back and just waited the few minutes it took for me to crest it and shoot under the bridge. he got big thumbs up and a little wave of apology from me.
also had some amusing banter in the city with some lads in a refuse lorry...caught them at a set of lights and filtered to about 2 cars in front - beat them to the next set thanks to traffic - over the lights and across the bridge they caught and passed me, waving as they did so. bottom of the bridge and a few hundred yards later i catch them and pass them while they queued at a roundabout, waving and laughing as they all give me the finger. they pass me on the straight to the next roundabout where i promptly passed them again thanks to traffic, giving them the finger whereupon one of them mentioned the spurs tattoo on my leg and his displeasure at having to see it this morning - it brightened up what could have been a pretty rubbish commute thanks to my skipping breakfast.
