Noise from crank

Hi all

Does anyone know why Iam getting creaking noises from the crank/pedal area whenever I push on the pedals with more than moderate effort. This does not happen during easy pedalling, only moderate and above. I have checked all nuts and bolts and sprayed oil. The bike is 6 month old.

If it's under warranty, and you don't have the tools and the like take it back to the shop.

Lot's of reasons.....

Loose pedal, loose cranks, loose chain rings, and loose Bottom bracket cartridge, or even busted bearings.

Be careful spraying oil. OK can you let us know what bike first, then we can check what bits you have on it ?

Problem with bikes, is the noise carries. Lots of it is down to parts not being fitted properly, and with little or no grease on connecting points (for non carbon stuff)....

I have had the same issue on my airlite 200, only two months old and just a little over a thousand miles on it and i have had to put it in for a service. I would have though the bearings would last longer then that.

The bike is a Specialised Globe Sport Disc which is a Hybrid.

'creaking noises' suggests loose cranks to me. The shop should sort it. Could be other things, but that would be my first guess.

Yep quite correct, usual first call for creaking noises', had the problem on a ride last week, tightened up the crank... noise disappeared.
