Years ago, old inner tubes were good for large catapults. The rubber formulation has changed and they don't work anymore now.

I keep a section of inner tube on the main upright of my music stand.
When we (the uke band that I belong to) have mic'd up gigs, I clamp the mic holder to the music stand, and the inner tube provides a good grip for the clamp. Without the inner tube, the clamp mount used to slide around all over the place..... mainly in mid song.

The little rubber covers inside the old Woods valves made great condoms for mice. Mouse numbers have grown out of control since the industry went over to Presta and Schraeder.
