Northamptonshire County Council launched the orbital cycle route yesterday.

A fundamental feature of the launch were the benefits to fitness and the environment, and they urge individuals in all of their literature to contact their employer about subscribing to the Bike2Work scheme.

As a teacher, and therefore employee of Northamptonshire County Council, I'd love to know how I can a) get them to reply to my emails, phone calls and tweets so that b) they'll start doing what they want everybody else to do.

For 18 months they've been asked by me and others to sign up to the scheme but they aren't.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Lol - letter to the local paper perhaps? Be a good story. They love shoving it up the local councils.

Yep, then some of the tabloids could do a churnalism job on it. Though the sticking-it-up-a-council vs cyclists-are-evil-and-dont-pay-road-tax-what-you-mean-they-can-get-a-bike-subsidised-by-the-taxpayer dichotomy might make it tricky for them to work out which way to spin it.

Written to both local papers, they didn't reply.

I like the tabloid angle - email is whizzing its way to The Sun.

I'm sure little will come of it but highlighting the hypocrisy makes me feel better
