North east newbie

Hi everyone. The names mark and I'm just getting my first road bike. I come from the bmx world but age and injuries have kinda got the better of me. Always been a fan of road and track racing since my granda bought me a book about the tour de France when I was about 10. Got a few friends who are also in the same boat so I figured now is the time for me to take the plunge and get out on the roads. I've spent the last month researching bikes and getting some money together. Looking forward to getting out on the roads, clocking up some miles and getting my fitness back.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and fellow north easterners. Mark I'm from sunny Tyne and wear aswell. South shields to be exact.
Like I said I'm going to check out bikes ob Saturday. Been researching them for weeks but the more I look the more unsure I become. So I'm hitting up a few lbs to seem some in the flesh and hopefully get a test ride. Haven't had a road bike since I was a kid and boy have they changed alot. Been riding bmx for more than 10 years so it's gonna be a big change for me.
Originally been looking at specialised allez sport and trek 1.2 but after talking to friends and reading reviews etc more names have been thrown into the mix. Giant, felt, boardman, fuji, bianchi. All the info and trying to compare prices and specs is doing my head in. Need to get to the lbs and see how the look and feel.

Got on great thanks mark. Went to a few different shops and had a few test rides. Ended up buying an orbea aqua San remo. I've made a post about it in the general cycling section. It's last years model and I think it was a good deal. Higher spec bike then what I had been looking at and cheaper. And the threw some bits and bobs in too. Really happy and can't wait to get out on it.

Yeah got it from kb. Didn't know about the shop until I stumbled onto their website. Had a bit of a mission finding it but glad I did. Hadn't heard of orbea bikes either.

It's a great shop, with very helpful staff. I hadn't heard of it either until addictfreak mentioned it.

Yeah I thought the same. Very helpful indeed and not pushy. Unlike some of the other shops I went to.
Glad I found them and will defo thank them for all the help with getting me sorted out.
So if you see a guy on a black and White orbea, with a kb cycling jersey on thats me.
