Norwich 50/100 June 7th

Who is riding this? I finally got round to entering just now. I know Heart Attack is doing it too.

Hopefully I'll get the 7am start then be back around midday...

Route appears to be clockwise again this year which means we have to ride up that hill between West Runton and Felbrigg at the halfway mark.

You mean you are going to get there on time this year, Will??

I thought it was the opposite way this year, but there again at least clockwise it means the first part is lumpy and the run back is easier

Yeah yeah I'll try! Actually last year got to the check-in desk at 06:59 but too slow to go off with the first group so we left 2.5 minutes later.

Deep section wheels again for a quick time?

I'll be using the zipps and tubs, and yes a fast time is the order of the day I think (well thats the plan at the moment, sub 5?), well weather allowing to start with.

Maybe some of the Suffolk Sunrise lot have developed a taste for East Anglian riding?!?

Pack arrived today - 7am start of course, number 469. Given that I entered a month ago, could this be a bumper turnout?

Anyone else riding? Weather looks ominous and I only have summer stuff with me! Might be rushing off to LBS later for something waterproof...

Yep weather not looking good, Zipps/tubs will be staying at home I think. Also hope that my head cold has lifted enough else I'll be doing it slower than hoped

Will, myself and a club mate Neil rolled in after 4:47 for the 100, 3 others got in before us, but they didn't take the stop they were meant to do as per the organisers rules/guidelines.

A tough fast ride with a very wet section and also a full on headwind for almost all of the back half, still didn't stop us . I was dropped 2 miles from the stop on the same coastal hill that hammered me last year, but rolled in only 2 mins behind the lead pack, on the way back the 3 of us shelled out everyone else thanks to Neil's pace and the occasional spurt from Will and I.

I was just outside Cromer, in Overstrand for the weekend - I think we saw the tail-end of the ride go past...
Not the greatest weather for it - but sounds like you guys posted an excellent time!

Just woken up! Great company from Neil and Heart Attack - thanks. We got to the halfway (72km) in 2h06 having fragmented on the last climb.
I was struggling with the wind being blown about everywhere and longing for the uphills and tailwind sections where I could do my share of the work. The last 8 miles went pretty quickly I thought - that's what a difference a decent road surface on a fast road makes.

That was a tough ride today with the weather conditions.

Clocked 5 hours 50 mins on my mtb - not bad. I'm sure I was the first 'non road bike' to finish but maybe I wasn't - who knows! Fairly pleased anyway.

Congratulations to all those who did this. I wondered why there were a lot of people with expensive looking bikes parking up in Norwich city centre!

Don't suppose anyone knows what the 50 mile route was? I'd like to try it out and maybe go for this next year.
