Two weeks ago I bought a nearly new 6700 Ultegra rear mech off the bay of e, it never arrived, after contacting the seller lots of times asking for the tracking number he finally emailed me saying he didn't send it recorded, even though he originally told me it was signed for:huh: anyway that was two weeks ago, I paid for the mech through Paypal and the cash went straight to his account, now I have opened a claim and he paid the money back.............or so I thought, he has paid by e cheque, which probably wont clear:sad:

Will I be able to escalate the claim if it does bounce or is that it, money gone, no item:sad:

I've been refunded by e-cheque and whilst it's a pain in the @rse it's always cleared.

If it doesn't then I see no reason why you cannot escalate it. PayPal are all about the buyer, they don't give a toss about sellers so I'd be very surprised if they cut you loose over this.

Good luck

I think paypal will stick with you until YOU have a satisfactory outcome. Earlier comment is correct, they are all about the buyer. Good luck!

As I understand it it's Paypal that causes the problem, when a payment is taken from a bank account rather than a credit card for some reason Paypal take a long time to clear the payment. No idea why because most electronic transfers can be done immediately. I doubt Paypal will be interested as it is there process that is causing the delay.

I always thought that refunds come back to the buyer the same way as the buyer sent the money, the funds were already in my Paypal account so didn't come from our bank.
Same here. I pay with PP through my bank account, if I need a refund it is payed back to PP and then 2 days later it's back in my account.

I did a payment by echeque a while ago, I think it was because the account was linked via the sort code/account rather than a debit/credit card.

I was refunded by a Paypal credit, i.e. from Paypal not the seller. In my case the goods were seriously misdescribed tho. I also kept the item pending the seller collecting it, altho' space shortage in York means it is now 1200 km away in France.
