Not a nice way to spend a day.

Just got back from the cardiac unit at a local hospital.

My dad, Mr CP Senior, had a heart attack this morning.

I got a call at work and almost collapsed when they told me. I had to sit for a few minutes before I could compose myself enough to go home / get the ball rolling.

He's not in a good way, and to cut a v-long story short, a lifetime smoking/inactivity has caught up with him.

The nurse couldn't say much other than unless he quits smoking immediately, he will be 3 times as likely to have another.......

I lost my mum to cancer in 2006...she smoked all my life....this has opened a LOT of raw emotions in me.

Don't know what else to say - very upset, very angry, confused...the list goes on.

Add to that 'domestic' issues around certain family members and him - not talking to each other etc - with me being used as a friggin messenger boy - and I have had enough!!!!!

But.....I have you lot.

Sorry to hear that, hope he makes as good a recovery as he can.

My Dad had a heart attack in his fifties, and they told him them to give up cigarettes, which he did. He had the odd cigar after that, but no more. He lived another 20 years.

Very bad news, CP, but I'd guess that, once he's been patched up and allowed back home, it'll be up to him to get himself back in form and maybe the shock will achieve what a thousand lectures haven't. Fingers crossed.
