Due to being in London with work, had to bring my laptop home on the Friday so was in the car and bring it back in today so was in the car, I am really missing it and dying to get back onto it tomorrow, I tried lashing my 17 inch widescreen laptop to the top of my panniers but it caused a horrendous rear bias that had the front wheel up in the air.

Annoying this is I have to go back next week.

I can feel my legs deteriorating, hopefully a couple of days and I will be back to normal.

A week of hotel food and less exercise really takes its toll, you can tell the people in the hotel that do it all the time, they are the ones that struggle to stand up.

Did totally amaze me the number of cyclists I saw, full on respect from me for cycling in that kind of traffic, the Old St roundabout isnt much fun in a car, I saw a Sports bike of the motorised kind accelrate down Old St, flat out in rush hour, now I have ridden a couple of fast bikes, the rate they accelrate is mind bending so what this tit was doing I dont know, flat out in second into third and backs off but I susepct he was doing getting on for 100 mph.

Aye, next week I am on a course in Edinburgh (a little too far to cycle there and back each day!). I'm looking forward to the course, but not the lack of cycling :bravo:.

You really do miss it when you can't cycle, don't you!

If the weather nice (this is Scotland however :bravo:) put the bike on the train a few of the days and cycle home at night.

Umm, you remember who I am don't you? The slow one with the 10 tonne hybirid! ;)

Actually I could leave the bike at the station and cycle to and from there. Except I sweat a lot when I cycle, and I need to be fairly smart on the course, and the course is on until 6pm each night and I need to get back to see the kids before they go to bed....

I'm sure the environment will survive my weeks worth of public transport...

Might not be worth the money if you're not carrying it often, but I can recommend http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Altura_Urban_Dryline_17_Inch_Briefcase_Pannier/5360029305/ - I get a widescreen lenono T61 (over 17") into mine easily, and my employer even paid for it for me!

It's a bit of a faff getting it on the bike at the same time as my saddle bag (I really should swap that for another pannier I think), but otherwise it's excellent.

Or get an Assus eee PC for buttons - mine does most of the stuff you need to at home (including this email) and fits into a sac easily

Cheers for the suggestions but its my work laptop, I am a DBA (Databases and stuff) and its my main pc so I need a big screen and plenty of oompf to run a lot of apps, I am going to get the little Asus for at home at some point.

It wasnt really the size but the weight, with my panniers it was just too much weight out back so the front wheel was coming off the deck.

Tonight I have to pick the eldest up from school so am in the car again.

I want to go on my bike !!!!

Tomorrow hopefully.

I think that must just come down to the exact positioning - the way I have that altura urban briefcase on my rack it seems the centre of gravity of the laptop is slightly in front of the axis of the back wheel. The bag actually mounts onto the bike at a pretty weird angle, which I presume is to bring the centre of gravity as far forwards as possible whilst still avoiding the 'peddle' region.

Back on it today, nice feeling !

However I was crap, slow and there was a headwind, felt like hard work, so after 13 days I really noticed the loss of fitness.

I haven't cycled for nearly 3 weeks, a weeks holiday, last week one of the boys was not well so he came to work with me (played playstation in my office!) this week things are still conspiring against me so I can't cycle. Looks like Monday will be the day, boy it's going to be hard work and just when I was getting used to the commute. I hope it's a nice day like today.

I've just spent Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs at a Hotel / Conf do in Birmingham. I was also out on Sunday night at a Eat As Much As You Can Chinese.

Felt stodgy, run-down and deffo put on weight.

Back on bike today. Felt good.

Its funny isnt it, non exercising car drivers must feel crap all the time, hence the bad attitude.

Not been cycling for the past few weeks (partly because work have hidden the changing facilities due to building work - discovered this when I turned up to an empty room last week. NO sign, no pointers about where to go, nothing).

Went out for an 18 miler earlier to see a friend. My legs hurt like a male dog's lover right now.
