You may be advised to discontinue some foods (e.g. spicy) and drinks (e.g. caffeinated, acidic) and avoid circumstances (e.g. bicycle riding) that exacerbate the problem.

Don't believe everything you read. Life without curry? Never!

Take up jogging - I'll pedal alongside to spur you on.

cheer up. Back in when I was first diagnosed with asthma I was told I had to give up a whole load of active stuff incluing all of my sports, my hiking & mountaineering and my cycling - none of which I did - my mother tells me I told my doctor what to do with the advice in no uncertan terms. Nowadays the advice for asthmatics is to be active and I manage my asthma through my exercise.

Ask yourself which will suffer more - your mental health or your Prostatitis. Ease back but not cut it out completely (assuming it does not hurt too much - or change to a noseless saddle?) for the 1 month of the AB's and keep your spirits up. reading up on medical conditions is very bad for your health - trust me...

In the same boat here, now only spicy food occasionally, hardly any alcohol and strictly de-caff. I also use soya milk, although that is an acquired taste. I still ride, but use a Brooks Imperial saddle. I think I have noticed a difference - it is certainly no worse. I would go crackers if I had to give up my bike. . Giving up on the caffeine really has made a difference mentally, so perhaps a little more laid back about it. SNSSO sums it up rather well.

It's something I suffer from very occasionally. Don't really have to cut back on anything, just make sure I drink lots and lots of water.
And take comfort in the fact that, according to my consultant, those who suffer from prostatitis are less likely (than the general male population) to suffer from prostate cancer.

Run. It's easier, pushes the pulse higher than cycling, more can be done in less time, gives you that elusive endorphin high more often, quicker to get ready for and clean up afterwards, cheaper, more accessible, friendlier, less fuss. Heck, since I can't run no more, I cycle but if I was advised to consider not cycling and thought it might be worth researching, I'd be back risking my knee rather than my prostate.

And you should try saw palmetto. That's reputed to ease any prostatitis.
