Not on the bike :-(

I've unfortunately been off work for the last couple of weeks felling pretty rotten. Sore throat, flu like symptoms, completely bunged nose and sinus, sweating, shivery, very tired, headaches and now swollen glands in my neck.

I'm back at work today, far too much work to do to stay off any more. Obviously my work rate is not the best, but at least the backlog won't build any further.

The worst part though is, there is no way I could get on the bike, and probably not for the rest of the week. The weather today look great for cycling as well.;)

So why am I writing this post. I dunno. Just looking for some virtual sympathy I suppose, and the occasional big jessie comment to cheer me up!

See how you feel later in the week - mornings are horrible when you are not 100%. Good call not to ride as this sounds like it's not just a 'cold'.

Actually, it was an easy decision not to ride today. I was supposed to go on the Edinburgh Cycle coop bike maintenance course last weekend. On the Sunday, I felt a bit better and try to get there (last minute decision) get to Edinburgh and realised that the map I had was rubbish, nobody I asked could help me find it etc. I was starting to feel a bit rotten again so headed back. I'm glad I did as I went downhill that night again.

Anyway, the bike was desperately needing a service so, as I missed the course, I put it in for a service last week. It is still in (bl**dy fair weather cyclists getting their bikes serviced holding everything up, grrrrr). So feel rotten, no bike, boo hoo hooo!!!

Where is bonj with a off the wall, politically incorrect, but very funny post when you need him.....;)

From what you have written I would guess that you have just gone through two weeks of cold turkey after ten years or so of chronic heroin addiction. Am I right?

Get well soon! Hope I'm not sick for as long as you. I've got similar symptoms - tired, headache, sore throat, nose like a tap, difficulty breathing (feel like a big fat smoker trying to walk up stairs!). Been like this since Saturday evening. Bit narked as Sunday was quite good cycling weather. Today it's shitty so I don't quite feel so bad about driving in. I'll probably drive in for the rest of the week now just to make sure I'm fully rested. I'm hoping that I'll start feeling better ready for the weekend.

No. We ran out of cold turkey a week ago and I have been surviving on cold beef and egg sandwiches ever since.

Anyway, I'm not into hero worship, although I suppose you could say that wonder woman was my heroine when I was younger.......

Nah, you'll be ok. I, however, had man flu....

From what I know of Heroin, those involved are often seen to sneak off to the toilets, spend five minutes or so in there doing things to themselves and then sneaking back out again with a dazed smile on their faces, does this accurately describe your teenage 'relationship' with Wonder Woman?

Bad luck MT. Get well soon. I only have so much sympathy though, given that you're one of them:

Sympathies mate! I'm also on a week off the bike, mostly due to the rainy weather since I don't work when it's wet. I'm not complaining though, I feel very tired and drained lately, I think I must have had a bug.

I know what you mean. However, most of my symptoms are better, today I am just have the swollen glands and the slightly wishy washy head. I have a feeling this will be lingering for a while so I could have been off for some time.

I'll play it by ear this week and if I get any worse I will take more time off. My health is important to me, that's why I cycle!

Your job very much depends on your health, so you are right to take it easy.

Sorry to pry, but do you have any sidelines for when the weather is bad or during the winter? Just tell me to shut up if I am asking too much!

I could always take the bus and train if I really needed to. Otherwise I've learnt to accept the rained off days as extra rest days, nay even holiday with the family.
