When I get a good pass, when its obvious they have held back untill it was particularly safe. I like to give a thankyou nod but I'm not sure if they actually notice

Indeed. I do also. I can't remember if I did for the first two cars or not. I might have been concentrating on something else at the time, possibly the parked cars.

I think the third car did see my thanks though.

I never said you were at fault for the last one Maggers, come on, I said that you weren't at fault. I think your line was better this time round, and you had more reasonable drivers. The real test is what would that blunt of a taxi driver have done in the same situation.

I wasn't aiming this at anyone on particular, and certainly not you BM. Just thought I would show how this exit normally works. (and others have suggested I was at fault, look at the discussion on the original video for example!)

One other thing of note that I have realised on looking back at the footage and having cycled the route a few times since. There are actually two pinch points here. The one on leaving the roundabout (which I never mentioned in the original thread) and the second one that was already part of the discussion. The time to leave the first (edge of the traffic triangle) and coming up to the second is 6 seconds.

As for what the taxi driver would have done, I am sure he would have held back, though possibly tailgated and hit his horn. That I can deal with better than the type of pass that actually happened.

LOL, yeah, beeping can well mean that you've done everything right, and that the driver has seen you. ;D
I thought that a lunch time; I got what I considered a friendly beep carefully pulling over from the bus lane on the left of 4 lanes to on in the middle of the 2 outside ones, in acres and still not delaying WVM progression to the red lights. 5 secs later he goes by slowing down and mouthing lots of abuse, guess what the light was still red when he finally got to it

LOL! And did you still go in front of him? Not really the most sensible thing to put yourself in front of an angry neanderthal, but I'm sure we've all done it at least once in this sort of situation.

Yip because he was 15m back and due to the road layout it was only when he passed me in the left lane, perfectly OK there that he slowed down and started to shout abuse before that other than what sounded like a friendly beep he didn't seem to react. I just thought heart attack victim.

Edit it this section of road. I moved from the Lothian Road Bus Lane (top of the screen on the left heading south to the Earl Grey St bus lane (middle of the screen).

...So what did I do different here? ...

You published a video of you whaling into a cabbie after a close overtake. This lot watched it and weren't about to take you on...
