Specifically, Anyone have any experience with the DMR Moto. I am having to use my off roader for my daily commute Monday to Friday, but managing a bit of proper "out in the country" stuff Saturdays and Sundays. I am using a wheel set with Alberts on at the weekends, but am pondering about what to use for the commute. They will need to be good grippy tyres as I use cycle paths and a couple of cuts along field edges, but I want a nice free rolling tyre for the tarmac. DMR Moto's seem to fit the bill, but I wonder if anyone can recommend anything else that I could look at ?

A dearth of replies. I guess then that they aint so popular, and I think I know why. I took the plunge and bought a pair, rode them 7 miles on one of my commutes, took them off and sold them. Heavy, and anything but free rolling on road surface. Very draggy and hard work. Much slower even than using my Alberts. Still looking at alternates. Might try the Conti X King or Trail King.

For a mix of light trails and on tarmac I currently use the Schwalbe Thunder Burt (Thin wall lightweight version) not the cheapest, but a good gripping tire that is fast. Very happy with them so far.

Another one I was looking at before buying the Schwalbes was the Speedking 2.2 from Continental.

Both of these are probably not the best for difficult technical trails, but perfect for speedy XC riding through pavement, singletracks and light trails.

Kenda small block 8s very good on gravel/harpack/tarmac (but not so much on mud) make a cracking commuter tyre if you're using tow paths and the like.
