November tour in The Netherlands

Can anyone tell me what the state of weather is during November in The Netherlands, also are the campsites open.
As I have a spare week during November (7th to 14th) I just gotten this idea, that I could use it to vist the Northern part of the country, using the Harwich to Hoek of Holland ferry.
Cheers

Likely to be wet, although not especially cold. Not sure about campsites, but I'd have thought that you should be able to find reasonably priced hotels/B+Bs.

I was assuming that the weather might be roughly the same as the Norfolk area.
Yes I think that's reasonable.

The wind could be a factor - it's not like hills as you never get to the top of a head wind!
The north of Holland is also quite a way from the Hook of Holland. It might be worth making sure you know what train options are available if you only have a week.

Train options are not a problem. The weather will still be quite doable to ride, even if your tent will be wet every morning. It will be colder, wetter and windier, but nothing a Brit would be surprised by. Campsites will be the hard bit. By that time of the year most campsites will be shut, and you will really need to do your homework. I am sure it can be done, with careful planning (and camping wild is not really an option in Holland).
Good plan, would love to join you.

Thanks guys for the reply, has given me something to look at, might well be a B&B trip now, if it happens as only a idea at the moment.

PS, willem, I will keep you informed if my plan happens

Sorry I should have said "would have loved to....". English remains a tough because subtle language. What part of the North did you have in mind? Friesland and Groningen are pretty open landscapes where the wind may make you struggle. Drenthe on the other hand is wooded, and perhaps better in that time of the year. I live more or less in between them, and in this time of the year I head for Drenthe.
These http://www.natuurkam...l/en/index.html are nice campsites in nature. If you tick the appropriate box you can see which of these sites is open all year. The central part of the country may be your best bet to find enough campsites

Now you're talking about b&b's. 'Vrienden op de Fiets' works a bit that way. 19 euro a night is the normal rate. Making reservations won't be a problem as november is not popular with Dutch cyclists.

Cheers for that, something to follow up.

Hee hee It ok Williem, English can be bit of a bugger at times.

Thus far I have only just started to look at the plan, but have concluded already that the Northern part may be a tad windy. I have looked also at coming in from Ostende, and cycling north to Hoek of Holland or the other way round. I have been surprised just how many campsites in Holland are open all year, far more than I though would be open.

Thanks for that information, I have not done any more planning yet, as I am currently in Malaysia, suffering the heat and sun and sandy beaches, and supping large amounts of nice cool ale:-)
