Some of the bikes I've saved from the scrapyard and restored for a few more years of life.

The above are all ladies bikes so I thought I should balance it up with a couple of gents bikes.
One's a 1974 Austrian Puch and the other a Kerry Green (50s). Built by the London Rubber company I think.

Hi Tin Pot, unless it's totally rusted up. You could easily tidy it up and sell it on Gum tree for about thirty/forty quid. If the tyres are knackered you could source a decent new set for about tenner and you'd still make a £30 (or more depending on it's condition).
Or the other option is give it away on Freecycle or one of the fb sale sites.

When I had my little Corsa works van, I rescued many old bikes left out for the scrap man. Usually BSOs, but also a couple of nice old racers. I always had a multi tool stored in the van and a couple of spanners at the ready. My wife would look on in disgust as I unloaded the latest dismantled "classic" out my van to join the rest on the patio.
A great hobby and very satisfying to keep the old unloved bikes rolling.

If you drove a Corsa van you'd need a steady supply of old bicycles just to stay mobile!
