Ok......so ive been cycling since August anywhere between 50 & 100 miles a week. I ride a road bike mainly but also still go out on my Mtb.

In the last two weeks i have started getting very numb in the nether regions after the ride is over and its like i have just been swimming in the coldest water. Im guessing my saddle must be set up wrong or has slipped on one of the bikes.

The numbness fades but not completely.

Has anyone else suffered from this or have i done some sort of damage?

I don't suffer from numbness of the stated area but this might give you some indication of what is happening, http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=84072
It might be worth looking at the agle and position of your saddle to determine if it is too high or too far back or pointing uphill or even pointing too far down as this could cause you to slide forward onto the nose of the saddle.

Thank you for this. Possibly more serious than i 1st thought. At least ive got my two kids and no more planned !

I need to have a proper read of that and start changing the saddle position

Maybe invest in a new saddle or two ? Both my road bikes have Selle SMP's and the TT bike an Adamo .

Keep looking for the solution until it is sorted. I can't stress this enough. I have done permanent damage causing what the specialist described as varicose veins in the (un)happy sacs. I find now I can't really tackle (see what I did there?) rides much further than 35-45 miles.

I think my problems were caused by me getting older and still trying to ride bike geometry I used when twenty and racing. Rock hard 22mm tubs and a loooong stem have a lot to answer for.

I have had this , get a saddle with a cut out for ur ,, er,, gooch ( perinieum) , it works wonders , iv got a brooks which is old and comfy but only for a short while as there isn't a recess built in , all my other bikes have saddles with cutouts to relieve the pressure on that wee bit ,.
First time I went numb I shoot myself , I mean it was totally dead and it took hrs to regain any feeling in my knob , I really got a fright and imagined the worst but I'm glad to say normal service is resumed

In a study of erectile dysfunction and bicycle characteristics, researchers determined that keeping handlebar height lower than saddle height in long-distance cyclists was associated with less erectile dysfunction, perhaps because this configuration puts the rider in a leaning-forward position which may reduce vertical load on the perineum. This position may or may not apply to recreational riders on touring or hybrid bikes where speed and aerodynamics are not as important, but there is no research to support the claim one way or the other.
Glad we cleared that one up.

Is it actually saddle soreness or have you considered the possibility of low temperatures and 'Chilly Willy' syndrome?

Q: What's the difference between a penis and a bonus?
A: Your wife will always blow your bonus!

Q: What does the receptionist at the sperm bank say when clients are leaving?
A: Thanks for coming!

My girlfriend just caught me blow-drying my penis and asked what was I doing. Apparently, "heating your dinner" was not the right answer.

I've not had the problems described in the opening post but I've had others and found switching to more traditional saddle shapes (mostly with springs) helped. I've started threads on the most recent two, which I'll update in a few minutes.

Once upon a time there was a CC thread called One for Ladies Only. It was about bras. From the second post onwards, men chipped in with tit jokes. So @theclaud, @Hill Wimp, @hopless500, and any others - got any good cock jokes?

(OK. Sorry to hear about the numb manparts, leedsmick, but the title was a hostage to fortune really.)
I was lurking somehow
