Mr WC has just phoned me from his car (mobile, hands-free, vehicle stationary, engine switched off).

He's stuck in a queue of stationary traffic so is running late for an appointment. The reason there is this queue is a traffic accident on the A47. MrWC can see down the queue of traffic in front of him. There is a level crossing in front a bit further down. The cars in the queue are stationary across the level crossing *on the railway line itself*. One car in particular (BMW, quelle surprise... ) is actually sat across the railway line and has been for some time. If a train comes along & the barriers go down, whoever is in that car is well and truly stuffed.

Mr WC is gobsmacked at the idiocy of some of those driving as they are completely oblivious to where they are.

I am no longer surprised by what I see on the roads these days. Even "professional drivers" perform shocking maneuvers of staggering idiocy.

That said, I've done a few myself

We all make mistakes but parking on a level crossing goes further than most would.

I presume he knows the train time table.

I suspect that in addition to the BMW, the car(s) behind it have also surged forward into the 0.00000000000001m gap that has been created, thus denying the feckless eejit the opportunity to back up off the railway. Still, at least they're making forward progress eh?

I'm not suprised either, i think some people think of themselves as amplifiers, in a way that getting somewhere in an extra 5 seconds will lead to massive returns.

Yesterday coming up through new cross. Big hand signal to go to the right of a three lane way, going at decent speed and turnaround and big gap. Get into lane and then about half second later a VW golf beeps at me! wouldnt mind but was in her lane about 15metres in front of her for about a second.

Then on a left bend (not junction or corner) was going up the inside of a police van that closes the gap to about 10cm! if they cant get it right who can.

Isn't Darwinism beautiful?

Depends if you're on the train or not...

Decent run of speed and it shouldn't even be delayed.

Why limit it by nationality?
I reckon c0ck-catcher would be an apt description...

Tw@t pinger? "Nob Nudger" "D1ck Displacer" - endless possibilities.

We live about 50 yds from a level crossing - one of the ones with the half barriers.

The performance of motorists doing the "red light slalom" does make one wonder if there should be an IQ element to the driving test. And why isn't doing that an immediate life ban?

Indeed.
