I take your point complerely Trevrev. You are not the only one to think this.

My solution is simply to ride along and ignore other cyclists as much as I can.

After a while they stop getting to you so much.

Cyclists are fine. I don't see many on my commute........It's just the rest of the population.
It seems everyone and their Gran has been out to get me this week.
It's been a F**kin' mare!!
How many lights and reflective items on your person, do you need for people to see you!!

I think there are more idiots than self-gratification artists in this country, although many idiots are also self-gratification artists and the number of wheels they have is irrelevant.

Some of the incidents this week, haven't even involved the other party having wheels.
It would be good if they'd had eyes though!

When I started commuting I got a great tip from a seasoned motorcyclist. Ride as if they're all blind.

So I do and to date, thankfully, avoided serious incident.

excellent.....i'm adopting this approach. i kinda already do....i just think everyone else on the road is an arse.

There has been a strange meme introduced to Southampton and the surrounding areas, hasnt there. I noticed a lot more pedestrians simply stepping out without looking (and that includes in front of buses as well as cyclists). A few close passes and left hook attempts...

..thankfully my ride has been mostly fine, the idiots have been avoided, either because the action has happened to someone else or via my own defensive riding (which is not as great as it could be this week).

Southampton is alright. Much better than people give it credit for. The weather always seems to have an effect.

Funny that, i was going to post something tonight, then changed my mind, but it seems relevent now..

Driving home tonight(sadly too far, too may hours to cycle), i was behind a pickup with a trailer as it approached a junction. I sensed he was impatient with all the traffic, he waited while the traffic from his left cleared...and he pulled straight out in front of a Clio...BANG, straight into the side of him at about 30mph

Others had stopped, he got out to make sure the driver was ok, so i made my way...thinking 'if he can't see a car right in front of him with headlamps on...what chance has a cyclist got FFS !!!!!'
