It's Ms RT's birthday today, so I've just been shopping and bought all the ingredients for a chocolate and cherry cake, which I'm now off to make. We won't eat it all ... does anyone have any ideas as to what to do with the leftover pieces, or should I just bin it?

You don't have to eat it all today surely? It should keep for a week in a Tupperware box? Or feed it to the birds or your neighbours etc. I often make a cake for myself and give away half of it. Or it should freeze.............

Coincidentally, I operate a Cake Disposal Service. Since it's you, I will waive my usual fee and take care of it free of charge - just stick it in the post to me.

Well, if you really can't finish it before it goes a bit dry, why not make trifle? Probably want a cherry jelly, soak the cake in some suitable liquer (sp?), and you could even make chocolate custard.

Oh my god, I want that now! Topped with cream and chocolate sprinkles of course.

I don't generally like trifle, but my Mum makes it with minimal jelly, just enough to soak the sponge, and I love that. Plus, she's not mean with the sherry.

It does not compute.... left over cake? I have never encountered a situation where home made cake has not been consumed in its entirety. Even a baked cheesecake that didn't set was eaten up with spoons:biggrin:

If you are really stuck - ping Ab Chandler and me. We can travel up to Herefordshire quite easily on the back of his motorbike. (Checks validity of passport).

If there is still too much left over, we can start a cake relay in Worcestershire. (We can start the relay and finish it )
