I have been on a non cycling web site.A chap telling us about his nephew being badly injured after being knocked off his bike by a taxi.
So he got on about insurance for cyclists that should be compulsory,My response ,which was well taken that it would be impossible to enforce after the first twelve months even if it was paid at the point of purchase. What annoyed him was an incident he was involved with.A female on a bso text while waiting at lights. They changed she lost balance and damaged his door removing paint and a scratch and dent. She them mounted the pavement and rode off,but not before giving him the finger and shouting i have no insurance anyway.

So question is could he have held her and contacted the Police. He had to pay for the repair.I would like to offer some sort of reply.

I'd be very reluctant to offer any advice on restraint. It's a legal minefield. There's also the possibility that the restrainee will go ballistic and the restrainer will get more than he bargained for.

Leave well alone is my advice.

What about a pedestrian who stumbles and falls against a car and scrapes the paint?

What about cars who park so close to yours that it's impossible to enter your own car without making contact with the other car's paintwork with your door? Should you fess up and offer compensation or a can of T-cut?
