I've just fitted to the old TCR:

1 x 52T Ultegra chainring
1 x 42T Ultegra Chairing
1 x 12-25 Tiagra block (OK, at £15 it was a bargain c/w £40 for Ultegra and a 20g saving)
1 x KMC Chain

Blimey, I'd forgotten how sharp and smooth a new transmission is ... makes the old girl feel like new, fabulous.
Total cost, £100 and just over an hours fettling.

Recently put a new chain on my Kilmeston, it had only done a smidge over 2000 miles, I was surprised how worn the chain was, and surprised how much better the bike felt, I hadn't noticed any change before in how it felt.

I think I'm going to put a new chain on more frequently, they're not so expensive relative to the other parts.

The Kilmeston is my first bike with a 10 speed system and was a bit expensive, so I thought I should do more to look after it, with the seven and eight speed I've been riding I was leaving it till the cassette and chain were knackered before changing them.
