We have all missed the obvious.

Austen (sic) Allegro Vanden Plas.

Too hot too handle.

I had one of those; as crocks of shite go it made a pretty decent runabout. I had a Princess 4R at the time and bought the all aggro for a laugh and that went to make room for a Rover P5 Coupe which I should have kept.

Not really British, though.

British Muscle car - V8 Aston

Aston's are GT cars surely? not tyre smokin' muscle mobiles. The very essence of a British muscle car involves two out of the following three

Italian design input
American engine
British built

btw I concede classic status on the H van.

nothing 'brutal' about a DB5/6 or 9 (the only one's I've driven) though, like all cars, they can be driven by brutes ;)

I was sat in one of these last night, but with a silver roof-one owner from new. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.

The car I always wanted as a kid.

As for British Muscle cars, I've driven a V12 E-Type, some real grunt.

An amazing car, there's great article in this months Octane Magazine about the 2CV original engine, such a simple and clever bit of kit.

loved my 2CV. It had non matching doors where the original owners husband had replaced them after being shot at by the IRA! The NI plates used to make Mr Plod more than a bit jumpy on the old ring of steel of a weekend.

The IRA didn't think the cars were up to much then . Presumably the occupants didn't survive as the materials used to make them were of pretty low quality.

Anyway most cyclists can cycle faster than a Citroen 2CV. Don't see the point of them. Stick to a bike it's quicker.
