OK who is up, and why.

I am kind of in the country - five minutes on my bike and I am in the lanes if I want to be. It's the other direction into town that can be problematic in the early mornings on weekends. As long as I have access to broadband and an airport, I am fine. Can live anywhere. My bucket list of travel destinations is shrinking - but there is still a fair few places I am keen to see. It is the getting there that is wearisome...

As for the remaining destinations, currently I'm facing with both lack of time and funds!! There's nothing short or inexpensive left!! Having said that, I'm off to Tromsø coming February for my last affordable destination (and hopefully on more tick off my bucket list!
So what's left in your shrinking (by the day I would imagine) list?

Oops, you're right.

Tromsø! I have made a few trips up there this year (on somebody else's shilling) It's amazing up there and in February of course there will be the northern lights. Be prepared for Norwegian prices...

My list? Kamchatka, Samarkand, Bhutan, Sicily, the Hoggar in Algeria woukd all rate high. Lots of places I'd like to go back to. And you?

Go! it's not that hard to do on the tour ships that go out of Ushuaia these days and although it is not cheap, prices have been coming down. And the Antarctic Peninsula, which is where these boats go, is the most beautiful part of the continent. better still, although these cruises are longer and more expensive, go to South Georgia Island. Unbelievable scenery and almost insane amounts of wildlife.

I'd rather go so that I could travel about on the continent, not just sail round it, although I guess I'd need to be there in some sort of official capacity for that.

Inland travel down there is very difficult and hideously expensive unless you are there officially, through a national Antarctic Program. I have been just about everywhere down there and truly, the most beautiful part is the Peninsula. The smaller expedition ships that go there make landings and you do get to wander around a bit - it is certainly not as free as if you were living in a field camp, but a pretty good compromise.
