OK wind; that's enough now.

I don't ever recall such a prolonged spell of stormy weather, and it's really hacking me off now!
Tonight is the third or fourth storm we have had in about 2 weeks, and in between the storms the winds have remained strong. Looking at the forecast up to Christmas day, it looks like more of the same, with the next storm due in less than 48 hours, then another one on Monday.
Tonight the wind kicked off about 6pm combined with torrential rain. The rain has eased now, but the wind is just getting stronger and stronger. Quite frightening actually, being on the exposed west coast. Strange noises coming from my roof and windows!
Trying to find a roofer to replace slates in this weather is nigh on impossible, and if they do agree to do work that is NOT an insurance claim (so that they can treble/quadruple their charge) then they want top dollar, the bar stewards.
As for M'ingTFU with regards to cycling, there is no chance of me getting out on a bike in this weather :stop:.

:hugs:It'll get better again at some point - all the best with getting your roof fixed!

The BBC Reporting Scotland team were in town (outside Nardini's), doing a live broadcast about the weather just before 7pm tonight. It's got a lot worse since then!
If I have to make another insurance claim for a roof repair, I will get hammered again by the insurance companies. Had to claim in January 2012 after another storm ripped off a 10' section of lead flashing. The cost of repair as charged by the roofers to the insurance company? £1380 . No wonder that a) roofers won't do non insurance work after a storm; and b) buildings insurance is so expensive.

They have only just cleared the fallen trees from the last storm on some of the trails round here. Sounding like there will be more down tonight. Horrible rumbling noises outside. It's looking pretty constant for at least the next ten days. I think my cycling is all but over for 2013.

I was just thinking the same thing to myself earlier, this must be one of the wettest, windiest December's ever, everytime i look at the forecast it just seems to say high winds, i can cope with rain but the wind is just soul destroying

Going by what I see on Strava, I think you deserve a well earned rest anyway! :bravo:.
Hope you don't suffer any damage over there.

Also one of the warmest in recent years? I don't remember a week or more of double figures, even during the night, and cycling in single layers

Yes, central heating has only been on occasionally so far this winter. Usually it goes on when the clocks change at the end of October. Climate change is alive and definitely kicking, whatever anyones thoughts might be on the possible causes .
