Old 105 ST-1055 shifters vs low end modern

Got a chance to buy some 105 st-1055 shifters, just wondering how they'd stack up against my much new but lower end 2300 shifters?
Obviously 105 kit is a lot better than 2300 BUT, the st-1055s are pretty old now so I'm now sure

I used the old 8 speed 105 stuff on a 1998 Spesh Allez in 2009. The shifters did feel more solid in some ways, more metal used in their construction I think. The left shifter did fail though (11 years use). I use 2300 and 105 (5600) on my 2 road bikes now. They both work fine and I'd have no qualms in recommending either. I doubt you'd get spares for the 1055 stuff now, so you'd probably be better off with newer stuff.
