Olympic road race - anywhere hilly where we can watch for free?

I've got the PDF of the route and as a former Londoner I can't think of anywhere within walking distance of a tube station that's hilly enough to slow the riders down.

We don't want to have to travel out to Box Hill and don't want to pay anyway.

I guess Brompton Road or Putney Bridge would be as good as anywhere?

If I'm in London that day I will probably go to Richmond Park and stand at the top of Sawyers hill (which isn't much of a hill and they will be up it within about a minute). It's quite open there and the views of the race should be ok. I'd love to go to the BH loop but I am convinced it will simply be a nightmare to get to and find anywhere to watch it. Should be able to ride there one way or another and push the bike, from one of the gates, if required. I would imagine they will close all of the roads in the park. I will go home and watch the rest of the race on the TV, after they have gone through on the outbound leg.

Oooh, can we come back to yours for tea?

I see that the route enters the park then crosses Beverly Brook, from where it climbs 156 feet in 1.5 miles. Seems like Richmond station would be the best place to aim for then.
