Same here, applied for the velodrome, swimming pool for MrsP and various track and field events, not the finals, and got ziltch. Still, the men's and women's road races are free.

We'll look at the first come first served but we're thinking paralympics.

My thoughts too....

We applied for tennis, beach volleyball, badminton and the opening ceremony (ho ho) - all first round stuff in the first couple of days of the games; the logic being that most people would want to see finals or medal events so we might have a chance...... only £188 worth of tickets in total and we got two. I astounded as i never get this lucky!
I still think the whole system is stupid though as comments i've seen on various websites indicate that some people have tickets to more than one event. Surely there must have been a way of making sure that as many people as possible got one event, and then see what's left?

A dafter system would have been hard to invent.

I disagree. By making the ticket selling allocation a newsworthy event, it has made the tickets a 'must have' commodity. How else would they have sold tickets over one year before the event, if not through some weird allocation system that encouraged jealousy and one-up manship. My opinion was - well done you are selling and bringing in money from the public through manufacturing a false demand culture. Personally, I will watch on the tele.

Got Velodrome tickets. Can't remember when, and therefore what, but will look up soon.

When I say "Got tickets", it is my wife that has them. So apparently I have to be nice to her for the next 14 months, or she'll take someone else!!

+ it created a further frenzied demand for the second issue... strange how they can have a second issue of tickets when the first was over-subscibed.

with the aid of two web browsers, two cell phones and a land line, i was once successful in getting tickets for glastonbury, and on other occasions less so.

at least i've never felt anything was unfair; i wanted to go to something popular and sometimes i did, sometimes i didn't.

unlike the olympics, glastonbury is not best enjoyed on tv…

.... bunging me a corporate sponsor ticket if there are any going spare...

That's the bit that really gets to me [no reflection on you or your other half Kirstie]. All those corporate entertainment/ PR/ media guests and 'celebrities' who often have no interest get the best seats in the place to see these fantastic events for nothing, via their contacts from the poor old sponsor [who pays for it all]. Nine times out of ten you can bet they aren't even watching- they're in the back room, drinking champagne, chatting to their chums.

'He managed this last time and got himself into the velodrome finals...' Amazing - I thought all competitors would have to qualify !

BTW it seems that there are some tickets left - football, handball, headball, and ballball...
