I was a fairly keen cyclist until my brother bought me an old BSA Bantam motorbike for £10 on my 18th birthday. No more cycling.
Then 5 years ago a friend called by our house on his bike and it sparked a desire to get back on a saddle. He let me ride his bike up the hill in our village and turning around a fraction of the way up, gasping for breath, I then experienced the downhill rush. I was bitten. My first bike was a Giant SCR which was great for the money but didn't really inspire me. A friend signed me up for our college charity cycle ride from Barrow to Edinburgh and my wife and daughter persuaded me I needed a new bike. I bought a Trek Madone 3.1. The difference in the pleasure in cycling increased fourfold. Last year I completed the 160km Ride with Brad sportive....just! I would love to ride LEJOG one day ....................
