Do you ever have one of those moments when you know you know something but it's always just on the tip of your tongue? I was watching a film last night on film 4 it had this actor in it...cant remember his name...but I think he was the main character in a tv show in the 80's or 90's...the show was about an amtiques dealer in suffolk or norfolk...the show was named after this charachter...it's been on the tip of my tongue all night...what was that show??

"Oh god, that's...um...wotsisname. He was in....hang on..." (Quite often it'll suddenly pop into my head when I've forgotten all about it, during the ad break, or the next day.)

The program that produces most of those moments is on the radio 6pm on a Saturday night, John Platts Network Gold, he plays songs from the 50's through to the 80's, I'm often sat there thinking I remember that, then can't remember title or artist.

I'm more concerned that you can't remember the name of the film you watched on Film4 last night!

I, on the other hand, seem to have a fairly good memory for actors, both in name and where I've seen them before. Actresses less so.

It's not a talent that got me anywhere in life though!

I was with a few of my guitar playing mates the other night, and launched into a ukulele rendition of "tiptoe through the tulips" as performed some time ago by.... what the bugger was his name??????

About 10 minutes later it came to me.... Tiny Tim

By that time we had a full description of him compiled from the memories of about 6 people, none of whom could remember his name. Senility is obviously contagious..........

Not surprised you couldn't remember... your brain has blocked the memory to protect itself.

44 Inch Chest's main star is Ray Winstone although Ian McShane might have been in it somewhere.
Maybe it was a 44-inch antique chest of drawers. Hence the connection with Ian McShane/Lovejoy.

Well, at least you can use this as a memory aid for next time.
