Update: we got our Kona Africa a couple of weeks ago (committee decisions take time) and made it available to colleagues last Thursday.
It's absolutely perfect for the job; only thing we had done (apart from having it delivered to a trusted LBS for professional assembly and once-over) was to add a quick release seat post. Quite an omission by Kona in our opinion but easily fixed.
