The latest from my wireless-listening buddy:
The Queen must be one of the most recognisable women in the world, but not to the Americans who once met her walking near Balmoral. Richard Griffin, the Queen’s former protection officer, gave a talk recently about his work with the royals in which he described the encounter. The Queen had left her tiara at home and was not recognised in tweeds and a headscarf. “Do you live round here?” the Americans asked her. HM replied that she had a house near by. “Have you ever met the Queen?” they asked. “No,” she replied, then gestured at her policeman, “but he has.”
