Munching toast, bike in the hall ready to go, suddenly and for no reason, Pffsssshhhhhhhh....

Back tyre flat as a pancake. Bugger.

Fix it. Reinflate. Fine. Get ready to leave. Suddenly and for no obvious reason, Pffsssshhhhhhhh....

God DAMN!

Tyre off, new tube. Pump up & off. Get to club-near-work-where-I-shower. Lock up, go in for shower. Come out. Back tyre flat. Wheel to work. Fix it. Reinflate. Goes down again. Patch hasn't taken. Replace one-hour old tube with spare from drawer. Done.

End of day, pop over road for pint. Come back. Front tyre flat.

Bad luck!
Is the puncture in the same place on the tyre/tube? You might have a sharp edge or something protruding inwards. Maybe a sharp edge on the hole of the rim.

There was a gash in the rim tape, with a possibly dodgy spoke-end underneath, but the funny thing is, I've not changed anything and I've been riding that wheel for a year or more with no problems. Still, I squidged up a bit of duck tape into a pea size lump, shoved it in the hole and stuck a plaster over it, just to be on the safe side...so far so good. It was actually finding the front one flat after all the back wheel drama that finally did my head in.

I know your pain...

Was halfway home in the pouring rain yesterday, and thought the bike started to handle a bit funny.... sure enough the front tyre was just about flat. pumped it up a bit and limped into Staines and replaced the tube, at least it stopped raining while I was fixing it, and I suppose 1600km is a reasonable distance with the amount of glass and potholes that pass for roads around here...

Funny you should ask - I just bought one. I'll be boring everyone with requests for advice on Know How, soon as it arrives. Like, can I put 28 (or even 35) tyres on the rims I currently have 23s on, and can I cannibalise the handlebars/grip shifters off my daughter's now outgrown bike to use on this. Watch this space!
