Online headtorch retailers?

Anyone got any recommendations for retailers, and/or for a good torch under £30?

whats the torch to be used for? i have an e lite by petzl which is ok for walkling and operating in a campsite

Is this for cycling or in general?

For a general light I'd recommend an Alpkit Gamma which is £12.50 but has a good 1W LED and is pretty rugged.

BTW does anyone know of a headtorch that takes 2 rechargeables ? - I always struggle with 3

+1 for the Gamma. Flashing red LED on the battery casing and different coloured lower power LEDs to accompany the "main beam" on the front. It takes 2 x AAA batteries.

I had a smile while looking at the Snap-on offer sheet today as I'm after a headtorch.

Bearing in mine it's on "special offer", it was £78+vat!.

I was initially delighted by my Alpkit Gamma. Over a 2 year period this torch needed a new battery case (replaced no hassle by Alpkit) and then became increasingly temperamental - not turning on. The metal contacts in the battery compartment had corroded/dissolved away. I used the torch for walking the dog every evening in the winter and camping/hiking. I looked after it very carefully.
Therefore it is great value but if you use a torch a lot and/or need 100% reliability you may need to buy a spare. My experience with Petzl and Black Diamond is that they are a bit more expensive but are better made and last longer. My latest favourite is a Black Diamond which cost about £25 from Cotswold and is more powerful than the AK Gamma.
