It is truely awful out here. I'd been to visit my goddaughters and then my dads today. Totally fine there, no snow or anything. Started snowing about 10 to 5 at my dads and I thought I'd better make tracks home before it got too dark. Glad I did. Journey was uneventful until about 1 1/2 miles from home and then it was bedlam. Main road was covered in snow and traffic going about 20 - 30mph until just before my turn off when it had practically stopped and was going at a snails pace. I braked to slow and could feel the car trying to skid. Had to turn off the main road to take my road home and it was even worse! One car had ended up on the grass verge. I made slow progress into the village, most of the neighbours seemed to have parked at the top of the road (very sensible of them!) as they don't grit down our road (it's a dead end). It took me several attempts to get into my driveway - The dratted car kept wanting to slide in the general direction of the driveway wall. Made it in unscathed eventually and 10 mins later new neighbours drive down road braked too late, carry on going and hit the wall (lucky for them at a relatively "slow" speed so doesn't look like much damage at least). Thankfully I did get the car in the drive as if I'd have had to leave it outside the drive they'd have hit my car instead.
In a way I'm a bit gutted - I have the week off work as we are supposed to be going down to London tomorrow for 4 days. I suspect they'll cancel the trains into London Euston and we'll miss Mamma Mia tomorrow night. If we can't get down on Wednesday we'll then miss Oliver! I really will be gutted if we miss Oliver! It has Rowan Atkinson in. I wanted to go to London Zoo on Thursday too.
PS I can vouch that BMWs are really crap in the snow. I had one and have had to resort to putting a couple of bags of coal in the boot and reversing up the road before now. My Corsa was good in the snow, I've got a Focus now and it isn't as good in the snow - bigger tyres to my detriment I suppose.
