Well it's just gone 9 o'clock and I am the only one here out 6. The only one who comes by bike.

Best bit this morning was passing a BMW struggling to get up a slight incline on one of the estate roads - don't u just love it!!

Not too bad here in Glasgow, less than half an inch where I am. Still, it was enough to excite the kids!

Yay! Same here!

Felt very self-righteous.
Decided to dig out the old mountainbike - for the first time was one of the fastest on the road. Belting past the fixies/roadies with my wellies on!

Best fun I've had in ages!

BMW's are rubbish in the snow - fat tyres and rear wheel drive. At least my car is front wheel drive, but even with big fat new tyres it was slippy.... bikes stayed in the warmth of the garage.....

Really quiet here too - about 5cm at home, but only 2mm at work...where is everyone ?

Local roads were icey so I thought I would take the bus only for the bloody thing not to turn up !! In the end went back home changed and then walked to the main road to cycle in. Wish I had done this to start with

That's what I did - side roads were iffy to say the least, but the main roads were relatively clear. I think if it freezes tonight it will make judging the situation tomorrow a totally different proposition. Snow is one thing: ice is what I really don't like.

Yep agree with you there. The main roads this way were clear. Will play it by ear with regards to the journey home depending on the temperature. Like you I don't do ice, just not worth it

Same here. I was quite happy to cycle today while the snow was fresh. Might make a different call tomorrow.

Enjoyed it tho', got up early and rode around in the park before anyone had a chance to mess up the snow.

+1 on the whole snow vs ice thing.

It's very wet snow here at the moment, slushy in places but nice and white (albeit sticky) elsewhere, and the roads are wet. If it freezes overnight it won't be fun .. today was fun, but only 'cos it was nice fluffy snow and not icy.

Yeah, lot of compressed snow this morning, but it's mostly clear this evening, still, glad I took the mountainbike this morning ... I had more grip than most of the cars

(ignore the other bikes, they're hangar queens that haven't moved for a year...)

It is truely awful out here. I'd been to visit my goddaughters and then my dads today. Totally fine there, no snow or anything. Started snowing about 10 to 5 at my dads and I thought I'd better make tracks home before it got too dark. Glad I did. Journey was uneventful until about 1 1/2 miles from home and then it was bedlam. Main road was covered in snow and traffic going about 20 - 30mph until just before my turn off when it had practically stopped and was going at a snails pace. I braked to slow and could feel the car trying to skid. Had to turn off the main road to take my road home and it was even worse! One car had ended up on the grass verge. I made slow progress into the village, most of the neighbours seemed to have parked at the top of the road (very sensible of them!) as they don't grit down our road (it's a dead end). It took me several attempts to get into my driveway - The dratted car kept wanting to slide in the general direction of the driveway wall. Made it in unscathed eventually and 10 mins later new neighbours drive down road braked too late, carry on going and hit the wall (lucky for them at a relatively "slow" speed so doesn't look like much damage at least). Thankfully I did get the car in the drive as if I'd have had to leave it outside the drive they'd have hit my car instead.

In a way I'm a bit gutted - I have the week off work as we are supposed to be going down to London tomorrow for 4 days. I suspect they'll cancel the trains into London Euston and we'll miss Mamma Mia tomorrow night. If we can't get down on Wednesday we'll then miss Oliver! I really will be gutted if we miss Oliver! It has Rowan Atkinson in. I wanted to go to London Zoo on Thursday too.

PS I can vouch that BMWs are really crap in the snow. I had one and have had to resort to putting a couple of bags of coal in the boot and reversing up the road before now. My Corsa was good in the snow, I've got a Focus now and it isn't as good in the snow - bigger tyres to my detriment I suppose.

BMW in snow are a great laugh, the drivers look so pathetic trying to get up the slightest incline, real d!ckhead car...

Wasn't a safe commute.Saw more buses outside Leyton Bus Depot than usual and realised that no buses were running.Lots of people at bus stops but was having enough fun of my own.
