I have a feeling that I am about to discover that Sky handset + washing machine on synthetics at 40C is not a good combination...

Now, how can I pin the blame on the cats or the hens?????

Nah, I'll own up!

Dry it out, it might be ok.

Kayaking, practiced capsize, realised when back at the car that electronic key + salt water is not a good combination.

Took battery out, washed battery and key in clean water, dried it out, it worked fine.

Might be worth giving it a rinse in tap water before drying out in case the rinse and spin part of the cycle doesn't get all the soap out!

yep...there's a good chance it'll work after a rinse and a thorough drying out.

I used to do that with PC keyboards where I used to work, and they were fine most of the time.

my bike computer been through the washing machine, still worked

ah well... it's only partially working... new remote control required!!

If you have such an old-fashioned thing as an airing cupboard (like us) you might give it a bit longer. Really drying out takes time. Ask my bike shoes, which emerge lovely and cosy the next morning .

Poured a glass of diluting orange onto my son's laptop! Took it apart, dried it out, fine. My last mobile was immersed in water twice, once for ten minutes, and survived both.

My mobile survived a couple of soakings - I made sure it got a complete drying on the radiator before putting the battery back in. The third soaking killed it off. It was at that point I decided to invest in waterproof panniers.
