So, I'm really enjoying my new Android phone, and the feeling of freedom from iTunes & Apple is fantastic

I can happily drag and drop files straight to the phone and everything works fine.
However, on the iPhone, I had folders for pictures so that everything was in it's own specific album, holiday snaps, family etc but I can't do that on the Desire HD?
I've set up new folders in the DCIM directory, but anything I put there just appears in the generic camera roll.

Same thing with songs, I can drag & drop songs and albums but they just appear mixed in with everything else in the media players. It's especially annoying with albums like "The Wall" or "War of the Worlds" where everything is supposed to play in order!

Am I missing something obvious?

Just bumping this as I'm at a complete blank.

For music files, it appears to be down to the player. Winamp plays everything in order, but kept changing my ringtones so had to go.

The photo's are a complete mystery though. I've tried setting up albums through Astro file manager, and manually on the PC but it just ignores all my feeble attempts!
Surely there's some way of doing it, surely?

I just organise them on the PC... eg I have a fdolder called "Vintage Cycling Posters" (as I like looking at them now and again). I have other folders too... when I open "Gallery" on the phone, it recognises and shows these separate folders.

Any photos I take with the device's camera automatically get stored in the DCIM folder.

Sir, you're a star, thank you

I was trying to be "too clever" and creating folders within the DCIM directory. If I just dump them on the remote drive, it works exactly as you say.
Fantastic
