FWIW The Grauniad agrees. Having developed a taste for cold war spy thriller type stuff (Le Carre on R4 wot did it), I have the Sky+ set.

You won't regret it. Joe Don Baker as the Texan CIA man is superb. And Zoe Wannamaker is fantastic in it too.

In the 80s I went to a talk/discussion with the writer, Troy Kennedy Martin, which was very interesting - years ago, I was living in Sydney at the time.

We used to do it so well!

I also remember "Rules of Engagement" based on the Graham Hurley novel, and the "House of Cards"

If only we could stop the US remakes

The original UK series of the 'House of Cards', and the two sequels 'To Play The King' and 'The Final Cut' must rank as some of the best drama ever made for TV. Amazingly the plot, and behind the scenes goings on in Westminster is just as likely/pertinent today!

Thanks for the information. Edge of Darkness is absolutely fantastically good. Joe Don Baker is really, really good. Don't miss it.
Just watched the first ep.

"LEAVE IT!!" - felt the tingles down my spine. Blimey he was good.

However, the picture's distorted - they've got it on the old ratio. Bloody annoying. Still brilliant in spite of it.
