Good morning and a happy new year to all of you in this sub-section of our society (Cyclists who also read the computer/I.T section)....

I took my little digital camera down to the fettling shed yesterday, to take some pics of my newly shined up cassette/drivetrain.... (I wanted to ask some of the experts here whether I should replace the cassette).
The camera refused to behave. The lens would not emerge from its hidey-hole.
Now, it is not unknown for me to indulge in the odd glass of beer during the 'festive' season, and I am afraid I sometimes do not perform at my absolute peak the following morning, but after a while I am usually back to my sunny, happy and co-operative self. The camera however seems to have taken a more permanent attitude to having been soaked in beer.
As a last (first) resort what should I try? In the aforementioned shed I have GT85 WD40 I.P.A (no, not the beer) and ethanol.
The lens 'tries' to come out, it whirrs and clicks and stirs a little. I have tried hooking a fingernail under the bezel to give it some encouragement, but it seems that there is a 'lock' mechanism which is stuck. Any ideas or advice please folks?

Electronics contact cleaner over GT40 or WD... apply in tiny amounts around where the lens should come out, using a cotton bud maybe. Keep applying in small amounts to anywhere you feel is stuck/sticking and cross yer fingers. At the end of the day, your camera is currently broken, so don't worry too much if you break it in the process of trying to mend it.

Thanks MontyVeda, I don't have a can of switch cleaner to hand... If you have some could you look and see what is in it please? I would guess IPA, but could be ethanol I suppose, I have bottles of both...
