I can only manage a wry smile...but would have liked the ride. Bit of a chilly breeze outside at the moment but Rye temperatures are constant through the night, at a 'cycling 6C'. Good luck Els!

No - of course it is Els - go! (But not if you're scared of the dark  ) Rye bread is nice too... I have just had a shower and am snuggly warm, wondering when sleep will come...I look forward to your report. When I awake in the morning, I will drink coffee, eat lime blossom honey (Sainsburys) and look for your early report from the seaside!

Els, Short notice or what!
I've just got in from the pub and seen this. I would have been up for it but don't think I can catch up with you now!

Darn it Frank, I know it was short notice. I only thought of it on Friday afternoon, which made it even more exciting.

I didn't go Aperitif, sorry to disappoint. I didn't write it in my original post, but I wasn't going to do it on my own. So I was really, really, looking for a partner in crime. Oh and only just saw your post of encouragement. ... if I had been single I would have gone ...

I'll pencil it in for next year. Thought about suggesting Rye to Simon, but the transport back to London isn't so straightforward I think.

Maybe next year...

You're probably right about it not being suitable for FNRttC with the transport not being so great and I suspect it is a good bit further than Brighton, Whitstable, etc. But destinations that wouldn't work for 80 people on FNRttC could be ok for half a dozen who don't mind doing a few extra miles in the morning (eg riding to Ashford or even all the way home!)

I think it might have been a bit wet last night though!

+1...gallon

I'm up for a night ride down to Rye at some point, it's just unlikely that I'd be able to do a Friday. There are some great bits of Kent that will probably never be covered by a FNRttC that would be fantastic with a smaller, more self sufficient group. Heading out of south east London gets you in to the country really quickly with some fantastic views, even at night. Any ride back would be more pleasant from that particular corner as well.

Cool, I'll continue on this thread when another opportunity comes up.
