Can anyone recommend a decent pair of gloves with padding on the palm?

I was out yesterday for a few hours and I found that my fingers kept going dead. I've since heard that it's a common problem with riding a MTB especially on the road where the pressure is on the palms and cutting off circulation. My problem was that I lost all feeling and I could change gear, not good when you're on a hill.

I've considered Sealskinz MTB Glove but not sure if they're a good all rounder with enough padding and weatherproofness.

Anybody have any experiences which could help in my decision and help to keep the life in my hands?

Best to try some on at your LBS & se ewhat you feel comfy with. I have some spesh BG ones that are a couple of years old, but really comfy & well padded in the right areas. The new spesh ones don't feel as good for me
I've just ordered a pair of THESE reduced to £7 so worth a try

I also have the Spesh BG's. They certainly wel made, the gel is just as squidgy as the day I got them

Be warned though, I suffer from the dead hands thing quite severley and even the BG's don't cure it, they merely delay it a bit.

I doubt you'll find a more padded glove though....

Another thing that was recommended to me (although I've yet to try it) is to fit some oversozed, gel handlebar grips. Maybe worth a go?

I have arthritis and had a lot of problems with wrist and arm joints whilst cycling. I use Specialized BG mitts and winter gloves. I'm just trying out some Sealskinz all weather gloves now (the winter gloves are too warm and it's not warm enough for mitts at night). Used them for a few days, there's some padding and they don't seem bad; not been rained on in them yet.

I'm facing that dilemma too at the moment

I'm using the liner gloves that I was using with my winter gloves under mitts and it's just right for these temps and the liners are easy to stow if it does get a bit warm.

Scooby, changing gloves and grips will help but it's also worth getting your riding position checked out. My first couple of long rides cost me all sensation in the outer half of both hands, the right was worse. I switched to butterfly bars from flats, bar ends would help as well. But getting my saddle/bar heights, and reach right, made the most difference. I've even done the ride in my old unpadded gloves and no probs now.

+1 for the specialized gloves. The BG Comp are my favourites.

Incidentally, if anyone's looking for a liner type glove to go under these, I've found that the Altura glove liner works pretty well. (About £7 per pair)
