Have been painting daughters bedroom today. Usual pile of claggy brushes, roller, paint tray afterwards. How to clean them easily?

A. Bung it all in the dishwasher! result. Even a longish pile roller re-usable.

Neat! I can't possibly see how a bit of emulsion paint pigment could be more damaging to the guts of a dishwasher than a load of food particles and fat. Dishwashing powder might knacker an expensive bristle brush but not synthetic ones or sponge rollers, I think. When Lady slomotion is next away, I'll give it a furtive try. Thanks for The Top Tip.

Whenever my Mum did any decorating, I just remember her washing stuff in the sink afterwards (emulsion, of course, not gloss). Seemed to work ok for her...
