Hi - I hope someone can help.

I did Paris-Roubaix a few years ago and it was great fun.

I am thinking of going back over next year around the dates of the Sportive in April, but the one thing I didn't enjoy was the mass amounts of people riding as it was impossible to ride the sections properly.

Does anyone know if you can ride the cobbled sections a few days before or after the Sportive/Pro's ride over the weekend of the 8th/9th?

Thanks.

You can ride the route anytime and the pro teams are usually doing a recce a few days before. The April sportive route is an excellent one to follow. Start and finish at the velodrome and take in all the best sections. I think there's about 28-29 when we do it as we add a couple in. I did it mid Feb when conditions were grim and we are back again in a couple of weeks. It's awesome in winter. It's also more fun with a couple of other riders tho. If you are on your own I'd also make a note of rail stations in case you have a serious mechanical. There's a few cafes here and there but Orchies is the best place for food.

Enjoy the pave and if you do the sportive it does get busy but you can time the sections to avoid the crowds. I take nine riders and other than the arenberg this year it's always been quiet enough.

Cheers
