Sounds like it's either Western Union or Moneygram, or a Jiffy bag of used notes in the post.

it can only be by irish personal cheque, money or postal order, euro giro, or international bank cheque ..
from the Irish postal service they accept Euro Giro's from lots of european countries but the UK is not mentioned...
Then a relative to stump up the money, it's hardly a huge amount.

one option is to send all my paperwork with 10 euros to a cousin in Dublin and get her to buy an Irish postal order and then forward it on....but that means losing days, where I'd rather send direct and get it back sooner rather than later ....

Less days lost than spending 3 days looking for an alternative though.

very true but if there was an another option and could send direct I could save up to a week on lost days....

Scan and email the documents, paypal them the 10 Eur (or Bank Transfer if you don't have PayPal). They can print and sort the cash on Monday. No lost days.

Unless I'm missing something, you seem to be making it more difficult than it needs to be?

Ring your bank and ask if they can prepare an international cheque for you or do a bankers draft? As it is for the Irish Government I cant imagine too many questions been asked.

srw

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Ring up the department and ask them what they advise. There are enough Irish expats that it must be a problem they've had before.
