PCS 10 workstand jammed

Has anyone else had the lower sliding collar, the one to which the ‘feet’ are attached (photo) jam up, so that it will not slide up the main ‘pole’ to make a more compact folded package?
Mine has slowly got ‘stickier’ over time. Always needed some ‘Bullworker’ type effort and a bit of twisting. But now it won’t budge at all. The main pole is clean with no obvious roughness.
I see you can get a replacement plastic ‘yoke sleeve’, Park Tools part 1788. Has anyone replaced that to fix this problem? I’ve tried some silicone lube, worked once but doesn’t seem to help now.
I see later models have a different folding design, but I’d rather fix this.

That is very odd! I have a stand of the same design and it does take a bit of a push to move that part, but it has always been possible. If everything is clean & lubed, it is surprising that you can't make it work.

Since you are considering replacing that plastic sleeve anyway, why not try sandpapering a little off the inside of it to see if that sorts it out?

Thanks Colin. I will try that. Looks like it might be a slightly destructive process taking it all apart so thought I’d check for others’ experience first.

Park are very responsive to email enquiries. I've had a different problem with my PCS10 - clamp won't rotate, and I've had a lengthy email conversation with Chad over a couple of weeks so that they fully understand the problem, when it occurs, what I've tried so far, and so on.
Now just waiting on a super deep socket so I can tighten the internal nut in the hope that sorts it.

Is it possible that some organic-based-oil has made its way in and degraded the sleeve, making it sticky?

Synthetic lube should help, but if the above is the case then it'll certainly have a hard time.

.. I've had a different problem with my PCS10 - clamp won't rotate

I had a similar problem earlier. In my case I found that the rubber ‘tapered compression cone’ on the inner part wasn’t separating from the rubber sleeve on the outer part, as it should to allow the clamp to rotate. Fixed it by drilling and screwing the cone to the metal bit it sits on.

Now I think of it this was a similar ‘rubber jamming’ problem to my current one. Sort of. Don’t think I’ve ever got any weird lubes or other liquids on either part.

Not to my knowledge. I”ll take it apart soon and have a look at its condition.

Useful suggestions on here but so far doesn’t look like anyone else has had the same problem.
